THE FAMILY OF JACOB AND ANNEKEN (BARENTS) PETERSON/PETERS

This document comes from the UM research team and was compiled by Eleanor Mayfarth.

1710 Members at Whitemarsh Presbyterian Church: Anneken Baerents, wife of J. Pieters.
1713 Jacob Peters/Peterson purchased 500 A in Limerick from Edward & Ann Roberts. Jacob Peterson wit. James Brooke’s will in 1719/20. Jacob and his wife “Ann” sold their 500 acres as follows: 1724 - 200 acres to son Henry Peters and 100 acres to son Peter Peters; 1730 - 200 acres to Casper Acre. Both Henry & Peter are called Peterson on the 1734 tax list. Jacob was a descendant of a Peterson family who were part of the 1638 settlement of Early Swedish families. The names Jacob, Christiana, Isaac, and Henry used in this family suggest a relationship with the family of Haramontee/Araminta Peterson, the wife of Matthias VanBebber.
(Recs. of Rev. Van Vlequ, Phila. Co. land recs. used in plotting of land of Limerick Twp. by Barbara Wentz, Records of the Van Bebber/Peterson families in Cecil Co. MD transcribed by Eleanor Mayfarth.)

HEINRICH, SON OF JACOB AND ANN PETERS/PETERSON

Children: Warner, Isaac, Alse Miller, wife of Isaac Miller, Christiana Updegraff, wife of Abraham Updegraff, Hannah Kendall, wife of Joseph Kendall. Mary Bunn, wife of Nicholas Bunn. Grandchild: Henry Peters, son of William deceased. Exec: Bernkin and Isaac Peters, Nicholas Bunn. Will shows that Heindrick has purchased an additional 200 acres, which he wills to son Isaac.
Witnesses: Andreas Gresberts, Philip Yost, Antony Miller.” (Phila. Co.Will Book L.298.)
Barbara Wentz says the following about her land plot of Henry’s land: “this clarifies that I am talking about Henry’s land because I do have the deeds to Jacob and Casper I only have the deed of Jacob Peters to Henry Peters for 200 acres. Below Henry's 200 acres was the 100 acres Jacob Peters to Peter Peters. . .and below that the 200 acres Jacob Peters sold to Casper Acre. However, to the left of Henry Peters 200 acres, I have a block of 200 acres but have no idea who James Shattick and Edward Lane sold this to. It certainly appears that this would be the other 200 acres that Henry acquired. Below that two hundred acres (and adjacent to Peter Peters land and Casper Acres' land was the Woodley land of 300 acres.)”
